Gay Iranian Safe

While Great Britain may suffer under the weight of oppressive hate speech laws, they've at least defended other human rights lately. Iranian teenager Mehdi Kazemi has been granted asylum by the U.K. Border Agency after discovering that his boyfriend back home had been hanged for sodomy. Kazemi game to the U.K. to study English in 2005 and believes he will also be executed if forced to return to Iran. His application for asylum had previously been refused before Home Secretary Jacqui Smith reconsidered it. I haven't quite figured out the exact math yet, but I believe that every gay person Iran hangs counts as 5,000 more reasons for the people of Iran to overthrow their theocratic regime.
