Hooray! The embargo finally worked! Frustrated over the fact that U.S. citizens are not allowed to legally taste the sweet pleasures of his proud country's cigars, Fidel Castro has resigned as president and military commander of Cuba. Also, it may have had something to do with the fact that death's bony fingers are currently finding their way through his beard and around his neck. But as President Bush said this morning, we could be witnessing the beginning of a "democratic transition" for Cuba. Except for the imminent crowning of Fidel's brother Raul (a.k.a. Castro 2.0), the continued incarceration of political prisoners, the continued power of the ruling party, and the fact that Raul has no plans for any democratic transition. Viva le revolucion!
