Former Queen guitarist (yes, I know they occasionally replace Freddy Mercury with some scrawny scab, but the band died with the great mustachioed one) has been named Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University. Turns out Dr. May's an astrophycisist in addition to being a rock god, and recently he co-wrote the book Bang!: The Complete History of the Universe. Suck on that, Buckaroo Banzai! Maybe this pop culture/academic supremacy he's been given the prestigious position, but considering it once belonged to Tony Blair's wife, it might just be because Dr. May is sleeping with the former British Prime Minister.
