Another Look at PETA

I try not to watch HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, as it's usually just an excuse for under-informed actors and opportunistic politicians to spout applause-baiting one-liners at each other. And then there's the token right-wing dupe. Also, Bill Maher isn't funny. But I was killing time last night before Evil Dead II came on, so I flipped by to see Mr. Maher's doting interview with PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk. PETA and other animal rights groups have been pimping a "vegetarianism will cure global warming" agenda for a while now. They claim greenhouse gas emissions from factory farms dwarf those from transportation. I won't criticize those claims, as I haven't checked out the science on that, but there are several other reasons to be wary of Ingrid Newkirk and PETA. In an episode of their skeptical Showtime show Bullshit!, Penn & Teller offered an insightful look at the actual ethics of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Take a look below.
