Mammoth DNA


So, scientists at Penn State working together with an international team have discovered that DNA recovered from woolly mammoth hair is much better preserved than DNA recovered from muscle or bones. They've even sequenced the entire mitochondrial genomes of ten individual mammoths. At this rate, I'll be able to enjoy a cloned woolly mammoth ride at the state fair sooner than I'd projected.
